Chef Aazam Ahmad helps Shawclough pupils make pizza perfection

Date published: 09 July 2015

Award-winning chef Aazam Ahmad visited Shawclough Community Primary School this week.

The BBC Fusion Chef took part in the school’s popular annual ‘Pizza Day,’ the culmination of a Year 6 project where pupils learn how to design, make and market the perfect pizza.

Earlier this term pupils visited a local supermarket to sample the produce before quizzing other pupils on their topping preferences. They were then taught about food hygiene, health and safety before designing, making and delivering the pizza.

Headteacher Julia Sandiford-Mitchell said: “Our children have worked really hard and have had a lots of fun finding out more about what it’s like to work in the catering industry. This project gives them a real sense of business and enterprise. We had a great day with Aazam, they all learnt a lot from a true professional.”
