Projects : Demountable classroom
Students and staff have commenced their lessons in the demountable classroom this week and are already very settled into their new surroundings. We held a planned emergency evacuation procedure this week which gave students the opportunity to become accustomed to the fire alarm bell and the process of careful evacuation onto the playground. The students were excellent in their response to this important procedure.

Redwood Education and Enterprise Centre (REEC)
An informal coffee morning was held this week for parents and carers of those students who are studying at REEC. Those who attended had the opportunity to discuss our vision for this wonderful opportunity. A huge thanks, as ever, goes to the Post 16 staff for working so hard to ensure it could happen at the start of term, but also the Local Authority project team whose support for this project has been excellent.

Youth Sports Trust Inclusive Project
`Sainsbury`s Road to Rio Paralympic challenges`- A group of our Year 8 students had a fantastic opportunity this week to take part in a series of challenges, all based on Paralympic Sports (Boccia, Sitting Volleyball, Goalball Challenges, Visual Impaired sprint challenge) with nationally recognized tutors and Redwood staff. This also involved students from Whittaker Moss School and was filmed for a promotional video for YST.

After School &Youth Clubs 2015 / 16
We are currently reviewing our extended schools programme and parents / carers will be notified of the proposals next week.

KS4

Hello and welcome to our new KS4 students and welcome back to our existing students. We are looking forward to an exciting year full of new challenges.

This year a group of students will be experiencing college life as part of their vocational course and the students that attended MANTRA last year will be going to Aintree on the 23rd September to take part in the GreenPower regional kit car racing heats.

This week students and staff have been busy getting the classroom ready for the up and coming school year. 4R have made some WANTED posters for our investors in pupil’s board, we used tea bags and coffee to make the posters look authentic. The students enjoyed smelling the tea bags, some even had a taste.

KS4 Student Council voting will be taking place this week - so if you would like your voice to be heard make sure you take part.

KS5

Welcome back to all our students and staff, especially our new teacher Gemma and Farzana who has joined the department full time.
Michael has stepped up to the challenge and is working in the kitchen preparing our dinners. Patrick says ‘They’re good’ and Maithe says ‘They are nice and tasty’.
