Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 18 September 2015

A letter was sent home on Thursday to parents regarding the first of our Curriculum Open Evenings. The first one for EYFS/KS1 will be held on Tuesday 22 September at 3:30pm.These meetings will be held in the children's’ units and we would encourage all parents of children in Reception, Year One and Year Two to attend, in order that we can share vital information about how we can work together to support the children's learning.

Meetings will last about half an hour or so and children are welcome to accompany you. Meetings for KS2 will take place the following week – on Tuesday the 29 September. Thank you.

A reminder, that the school will be closed for Teacher Training from Wednesday to Friday next week. For those families celebrating Eid at this time, Eid Mubarak. We wish everyone a happy family time together during this short break from school.

Sometimes and times of home celebration or school holidays, families allow children to have a line/lines or patterns shaved into their hair. This is a polite reminder that children must not return to school on Monday 28 September with this being the case. Thank you.

Parents will have received a letter about plans to celebrate Eid in school. On Monday 28 September, parents are invited to a special Eid celebration assembly at 9.10am. All are welcome and please do come if you are able.

There have been a significant number of sickness bug cases around school this week. Please remind children to wash their hands thoroughly at key times to avoid unnecessary germs being spread and also, if your child is sick at home, please make sure that they stay away from school until 24hours have passed since the last episode of vomiting.

There has been a slight improvement in non-blue badge holders using the parking bays. Please continue to support us and the families that really need them by continuing to respect the disabled parking spaces. Thank you.

Just to clarify that requests to take children out of school for holidays during term time always have to go down as unauthorised. Also to clarify, neither the school nor its Governing Body is responsible for fines that are issued now when parents choose to take their children out for this reason; fines are issued by the Local Authority, not school. Please make sure that holidays are booked and taken out of school time and remember to keep us informed of any plans to the contrary. Thank you.
