After School &Youth Clubs 2015 / 16
We have completed our review of the extended schools provision and from week commencing Monday 28 September the following programme will be in operation, Youth Clubs will be in operation on a Tuesday evening and Saturday morning. 

Parent Governor vacancy
Have you got skills and qualities which the school could utilize? Could your interests and hobbies benefit the youngsters and staff? Do you work in a business or service industry which the school could benefit from your expertise and input? As a parent or carer you have countless skills with which you may wish to support the school.

The Governing Body currently has a vacancy for a parent representative to serve a term of office and we shall be sending details and nomination forms out to parents and carers. Please take the time to read the information and if you would like to self - nominate for this possible position in school please follow the guidelines. I look forward to hearing from you

Student Council Elections
We will be holding elections in school next week for members of the Student Council to serve this year. As ever I am excited to work alongside the council members who will be elected. It is hoped that the details of those students chosen will be given out in next weeks newsletter.

KS3

Year 8/9 Red have been working with his their ‘senses’ they have enjoyed smelling and feeling lots of different objects.

Pupils who take part in the ART after school club made plant pot people and called them “Woody” and “Rosie”.
The inclusion group from Oulder Hill have settled in well, in English they have been learning about descriptive writing and personification……..WOW, sounds very complicated.
Well done to Alicia, Jet and Faizan who have become part of Key Stage 3 wheelchair facilitators group. They will provide much needed help to staff and pupils.
Student Comment:
Thomas was asked in Science which of our senses we use to taste. Thomas replied “our gob”.

Ellie L, Oliver B, Shaun K, Ethan H, Michael B, Chloe H, Amelia W, Joseph B, Amy B and Emma B have had the opportunity for filming the Road to Rio initiative which aims to bring inclusive adaptations to classic games. Our students were filmed setting up and taking part in the challenges which will eventually be uploaded to Sainsbury’s Road to Rio website and shared with up to 2.5 million young people in primary and secondary schools across the UK. Challenges included boccia, goalball, visually impaired sprints and visually impaired circuits.

KS4 students started their vocational educational programme today. Students will have the opportunity to experience working in the following areas at either school, Hopwood Hall College or MANTRA Training.

Ceramics, Catering, Motor Vehicles, Enterprise, Art and Craft’s, Performing Arts, Horticulture and Sport and Leisure.

KS5

Students enjoyed reaching, grasping and moving balls and equipment in the Sensory Sport lesson on Monday.

Parents were invited over to the REEC centre for a coffee morning. It was an opportunity to look around and meet the staff. Students baked biscuits and served tea and coffee. We will be organising visits over for the students still based in Rochdale soon.

As part of a body awareness session, students on the Skills for Independence route have tried some simple yoga poses.
