MacMillan Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who attended the KS5 MacMillan Coffee Morning on Friday. Students had worked very hard baking and decorating cakes for the occasion. Students from 5D helped greet visitors and sign them in, whilst some helped serve and take the money. It was great to see students and staff from other departments as well as parents, carers and old friends. We raised over £100.

Miss Doggett was especially proud of the Cook and Eat crew who made sweet potato curry with rice and naan and chocolate cake without the help of Mrs Ali. All of it tasted amazing and they got the washing up done in super quick time.

SSC made a fabulous pie for their dinner. The pastry just grew and grew and grew. Staff were worried at one point that it was going to take over the oven. However it did calm down and tasted lovely.

The gardening project has started the new academic year by helping a local disabled resident in the Castleton area access his garden for the first time in years. The garden had been overgrown for a number of years and the team spent two days clearing all the weeds and rubbish. This has made a huge difference to the site, with one neighbour stating that the team “was absolutely wonderful”. Well done to Sajid, Asad, Sahil and Aaron.

Group 2 musicians have been exploring tuned instruments in readiness for a group performance planned for the end of the unit.
