The Chicago Teddy Bears

Reporter: Tony Sheldon
Date online: 12 June 2008

The Chicago Teddy Bears are one of the best exponents of Dixieland Jazz and have been entertaining audiences for many years from their Warrington base. Always the epitome of sartorial elegance and welcome visitors to Castleton.

The recent death of their reeds virtuoso Colin Jones brought a touch of the melancholy to his many fans, but in true trad Jazz style the band's performance more than equalled their high quality. Dave Mott on clarinet, with his deft touches and long experience on the Jazz scene fitted perfectly into the band's presentation.

Led by Kenny Doran on trumpet and intro's the band played a variety of Dixieland tunes which have been popular over the years with a fine blend of musicianship which kept the feet tapping and the hands clapping before an appreciative audience.
