The Salvation Army, Newgate, Rochdale will be holding a holiday club from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October. The title is ‘Landlubbers' and is based on a pirate theme. Each day will include Bible teaching, craft, songs, fun & games, as well as clues to solve and an episode from ‘Landlubbers Ahoy!’.

This is aimed at children aged 7 – 11 and will be held at The Salvation Army, Newgate from 1.30pm to 3.30pm each day. The cost of admission is 50p and each child will go home with something they have created.

Landlubbers features two different groups of pirates, who are both on the same island.

The drama follows the adventures of four pirates who have grown dissatisfied with their life of looting and raiding. They yearn for a more peaceful life living as honest, law-abiding citizens. But first they must work out how to get off the island.

Meanwhile the presenters (and children) are also on the island. But they are searching for treasure, with the aid of a map and some puzzling clues they receive from a mysterious castaway.

Both groups find what they have been looking for, although it doesn’t take the form they expect. One group discovers true freedom, while the other finds out about the greatest treasure of all – knowing Jesus.
