Reverend Dr Ian Carter licensed as Priest in Charge

Reverend Dr Ian Carter was licensed as Priest in Charge of Christ Church, Healey and All Saints, Hamer on Sunday 16 March.

The service, which took place at All Saints Church on Foxholes Road, was attended by the Mayor of Rochdale Peter Rush, Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk and the Mayor of Whitworth, Councillor Karen Ruane.

Church warden Kay France said: “It was lovely to see a packed church with local dignitaries attending.”

The service was led by the Bishop of Middleton Mark Davies, the Archdeacon of Rochdale Cherry Vann and the Area Dean Sharon Jones.

Members of the congregations of All Saints and Christ Church, Healey together with family, friends and former colleagues of Revered Carter, representatives from the ecumenical churches in Rochdale, the central mosque and staff and the choir of All Saints School attended the service.

As part of the service, the school choir performed for the congregation.

Dr Carter’s previous ministry was at the Royal Salford Hospital.

Following the service, refreshments were served giving an opportunity to speak with Rev Carter as well as meeting friends old and news.

Kay added: “Many thanks to everyone for their efforts and support in welcoming people to our church and making the service a great success.”
