Gift Aid – urgent action needed!

In 2012 HMRC changed the wording requirements on Gift Aid declarations. To assist those who had purchased pre-printed one off envelopes, there was a dispensation to allow these stocks to be used up.
The latest declarations include wording to remind donors that sufficient tax must have been paid to cover all donations to charities in the tax year. It also includes a sentence stating other taxes such as Council Tax and VAT cannot be included.
This dispensation will cease at the end of March and urgent steps need to be taken to check all blank declarations in your Church and take the appropriate action to replace any not compliant. New envelopes can be purchased pre-printed or homemade.
