St Andrew’s, Dearnley

Date published: 15 December 2015

We are looking for members of our congregation to join our carol singing teams which are going out next week on Monday to Ashcroft House (2.00pm) and Belvoir Nursing Home (3.00pm) and on Tuesday to Cleggsworth House (2.00pm) and Lakeside Nursing Home (3.00pm).

Anyone interested should please sign up in church this Sunday, 20 December, when, in addition to our usual Sung Eucharist at 9.30am we have a ‘Carols and Nativity’ service at 5.00pm or ring 01706 378466.

We have Amnesty International cards to send to prisoners of conscience (see Jo Hill) and we need chocolate selection boxes please to go to the Family Action Group.

Donations for Christmas flowers should please be made to Edna.

Christmas services are as follows:

  • Sunday, December 20: Carols and Nativity, 5.00pm
  • Christmas Eve: Christingle and Crib Service (with puppets), 4pm and Midnight Eucharist, 11pm
  • Christmas Day: Family Eucharist, 9.30am
  • December 27: Said Eucharist 9.00am and Carol Service at Wardle Village Church at 11.00am

We have completed our third Pilgrim series and although attendances were down on the previous two sessions the meetings were lively and enjoyable. If there is enough evidence to believe that Thursday evenings are not the best time to have these get-togethers we may consider a change next year. Let Mike know what you think.

Our next major fund-raising event will be on 20 February when the ‘Little Jazz Funk’ orchestra will be at St Andrew’s. There will be a supper and bar. Tickets will go on sale in the New Year.
