Rochdale PCT Campaign Against Global Poverty
Date published: 09/09/2005
As part of a Rochdale Primary Care Trust campaign to promote Fair Trade and reduce global poverty, officers will be holding a 'One World' week, encouraging locals to help towards making the world a "better place". Starting on Saturday 29 October 2005, the event will take place at Rochdale Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
The theme of One World Week 2005 is Promises, Promises! and the PCT will be inviting people to make a promise that will contribute to making the world a fairer place. There will be many examples of promises on display, such as:
- I promise to turn the tap off when I clean my teeth
- I promise to take a shower instead of a bath
- I promise to recycle my old mobile phone
- I promise to buy fairly traded tea/coffee
- I promise to take action against injustice
If you would like to get involved and show your support, simply turn up on the day and contribute to making the world a better place.
