Police appeal - missing 57-year-old man
Date published: 19/11/2005
Police in Rochdale are appealing for the public's help to trace a 57-year-old man who has been missing from home since Thursday 10 November 2005.
Derick Shaw, (DOB 11/04/48) of Ethel Court, off Church Road, in Rochdale was last seen at the Queens Pub on Milkstone Road at around 9.00pm on Thursday 10 November. He left the pub between 9.15pm and 9.30pm and has not been seen since.
His teenage daughter had seen him the day before when he left their home to go to work at Ryalux Carpets on Queensway, where he has worked for two years. He attended work as usual on the Wednesday and Thursday and it is
extremely out of character for him to fail to return home.
It is not believed he has withdrawn any money from his bank account.
Police officers have searched the local area with police dogs. Officers from the Underwater Search Unit have also searched the canal near to his place of work.
There is a possibility Derick may have gone to Blackpool, a place he is known to have visited in the past.
Derick is described as being white, approximately 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and has short brown hair. When he was last seen he was wearing blue jeans and a black and grey winter coat.
Anyone who may have seen Derick in the last week is asked to contact officers at Rochdale on 0161 856 8519 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
