Murder enquiry following suspicious death on Roch Valley Way

Police were called to Roch Valley Way in the early hours of Saturday morning (1 April 2006), following reports a man had been found with serious head injuries.
Officers and paramedics attended at around 2.05am and the 44-year-old man was taken to Rochdale Infirmary where he was pronounced dead.
Police are treating the death as suspicious at this stage and anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 0161 872 5050, Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8551 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Update:
Detectives have identified the victim and are now treating his death as murder.
David Reilly (DOB 07/04/61) of Roch Valley Way was found with head injuries and taken to Rochdale Infirmary where he was pronounced dead.
A post mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of death has not been ascertained.
Detectives are now trying to ascertain how Mr Reilly sustained his injuries and are appealing to members of the public who were in the local area to come forward.
