Former Councillor Ian Duckworth has highlighted his concern that on Sunday (16 September) Rochdale was covered by just three policemen!

He explained: "Saturday at about 5.00pm a white van that had been stolen earlier ploughed into a neighbour's garden, demolishing their wall and smashing into their car which was parked in the driveway.

"The driver jumped out and ran away in the direction of Turf Hill. He was recognised and his name and details of the incident was phoned through to the police.

"They eventually arrived at about 8.00am Sunday morning!

"No one had been round to the suspects house, or any other action taken.

"Further checking by me from an impeccable source revealed the number of police on duty today.

"This is not a gripe about individual policemen and women but on their management, or lack of it."
