Health service on the up, says review

The local health service has been praised for making good progress in the past 12 months.

Two projects from NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale were praised in a region wide review launched by NHS North West, which looks at the progress that the NHS has made since the publication of the Healthier Horizons strategy a year ago.

The review, called ‘One Year On’ pulls together examples from across the region that put the Healthier Horizons vision into action by improving quality of care, making sure that services are personalised and meet the needs of individual patients, and tackle the poor health that people in the North West live with.

Mike Farrar, chief executive of NHS North West said, “12 months ago, we promised to transform the health and health services of people. We have some real challenges here in the North West; but we knew the only way to succeed was through front-line teams of doctors, nurses and therapists leading improvements.

“In pulling together this review, it has been really inspiring to see the fantastic work that is being done in our communities. I’m really impressed with the work being done by NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale to improve access to GP services and to help people manage their long term conditions through Case Management."
