Police and Carcraft unite to fight vehicle crime
Date published: 22/05/2007
Rochdale Police is joining forces with used car hypermarket company Carcraft to help tackle vehicle crime in the area.
In an ongoing initiative, Carcraft will supply two cars each month, which will be used by police in vehicle crime hotspots.
Rochdale has seen a 10 per cent reduction in car crime over the last six months as a result of a series of operations, and police believe the new partnership with Carcraft will lead to even greater reductions.
Inspector Dale Sexton of Rochdale Police said: "We are focused on reducing vehicle crime in Rochdale, and our partnership with Carcraft will certainly assist us in our efforts. I am confident we can reduce the number of car criminals who operate in the town, and bring misery to many drivers through their actions."
Mike Walsh, Regional Director at Carcraft, added: "Carcraft is delighted to be able to offer its support to this scheme. We look forward to building a long-term relationship with Greater Manchester Police, and continuing to work with them to tackle the vehicle crime that adversely affects quality of life in our communities."
