Firework injury - mans arm amputated

At approximately 11:40am Sunday 7 November 2004, police officers responded to reports that a man had been seriously injured by a firework.
On arrival at the scene at Upperstone Drive in Milnrow, Rochdale, a 20-year-old man was found to have sustained severe injuries to his hand and arm, after a lit firework had exploded in his hand.
The victim was transferred to Rochdale Infirmary where his left hand and part of his arm was amputated.
