Health issues

Health remains the most worrying issue for Rochdale.
At a very local level in Wardle Village the Chemist will close. This will cause problems for the elderly and disabled who will have to travel out of the Village to a Chemist shop .I have written to the Chairman of the PCT who will look into this issue and see what alternative measures can be put in place to make sure there is a prescription delivery service for those that require it, at least the Chemist has agreed to remain open until the end of Feb giving time to look at alternatives.
I also went to London this week to lobby the Secretary of State for Health along with friends of our Hospital, unfortunately she would not meet all the people from various parts of the country who had gone to voice their concerns. However we held a very worthwhile rally in St Stephen’s Hall and hopefully the delegation that met Patricia Hewitt will make her reconsider the proposals
Paul Rowen MP looked after us all in his usual courteous manner; both Paul and Jim Dobbin MP are working hard to secure the best possible deal on health care for the borough as a whole. . Friends of our Hospital will continue to strive and work with all groups and health professionals to make sure we get the best possible deal for Rochdale, the group has members from all political parties and from none its sole aim is to get the best for Rochdale. Please continue to support this group.
