Let's have fair play for the disabled!

Going to the Rochdale Online Awards on Friday, thought I'd better make an entry!  I'm looking forward to it and I must tell you any entertainer on stage that night has got to perform.  I say that with 30 years of Cabaret Experience.  No pressure K!

I suppose this Forum is for Councillors to let the people of the Borough know what we are up to.  Good idea!  One of my main campaigns in Heywood is to end the farcial situation at Heywood Market.  I'm delighted to report significant progress on this and soon we will see an end to motorists abusing the free car parking at Heywood Market.  I have received a number of complaints from local residents about the problem that has led to disabled people and market users being unable to park there.  This is due to commuters parking there and dissapearing for hours on end - some even commuting to work and coming back!

Motorists are abusing the goodwill of Heywood by parking there early in the morning and commuting to work in Manchester – not returning till late.  This affects the market and I am sure they are losing trade because of this selfish attitude.  I have reports about the disabled and others not being able to park there because of the selfishness of other drivers.  The main excuse for people parking in much needed disabled spaces is that were unaware that it is a disabled bay.  I'm fighting to give them NO excuse, I have asked for extra signage at Heywood Market and the disabled parking bay markings that are completely worn out to be repainted.
