Rochdale Cottons On

What a welcome surprise to open the Sunday Times (18/3/07) and see an excellent report on the progress the Rochdale Borough is making in catch up with surrounding areas in being recognised nationally as a desirable place to live.

The Sunday Times report carried predictions from Rochdale Development Agency, Chief Executive, John Hudson, that within ten years Rochdale will be a very different place, the town centre will have new shops and office blocks, and a slick tram service. “Many of the surrounding Pennine villages are extremely attractive and the job of the RDA is to make the inner urban areas just as good” said John, who knows he will have the support of the Liberal Democrats to make this transformation happen.

Leading Rochdale Estate Agent, Nigel Adamson, who advertises all his property on Rochdale Online Classifieds, Residential Property, says that property prices are now surprising those who still associate Rochdale with  “dark satanic mills.”

While the deposed Labour losers can only whinge and whine after years of non achievement, your Liberal Democrat led Borough Council is pressing ahead with the necessary improvements to bring the Council’s service delivery upto Four Star excellent status for the benefit of all the people of the Borough. Unfortunately, we cannot, overnight, make all the reforms required and things will not run smoothly at once, but the Liberal Democrats are not going to settle for a second best Rochdale Borough like their predecessors.

With the Liberal Democrat led council it can be said, and is being recognised nationally, that the Rochdale Borough’s future is at last bright.
