Rochdale ready for a change!

After spending the last few weeks during the election campaign out meeting people throughout Rochdale, It’s absolutely clear that the public are ready for a change. They feel let down by Labour nationally and very let down by the Lib-Dems locally.

Many people are asking why the Council Tax has increased so much this year, when savings could, and should, have been made.

Neither can people understand why sensible schemes that we Conservatives suggested:

* Not charging the disabled to park their cars.
* Providing free of charge an alarm system for the elderly and vulnerable

Were not readily agreed by the Lib-Dems.

Why did they not listen to our suggestions to spend much less than £1.1 million on external consultants, £35K on bottled water for town hall staff and a staggering £150K on the un-necessary beaurocracy of a  ‘Complaints Team’

All these savings were sensible and would have kept Council Tax down.

We Conservatives always remember that it is your money we spend and we believe in working with both Lib-Dem and Labour when it’s best for our town.

We will never put petty party politics before the interests of Rochdale.
