Desperate Labour!

Well where do I start?  I think Keith Swift has got it right - the petty name calling is crazy.  We are here to represent this Borough.  Yet in Balderstone and Kirkholt Allen Brett and Darren Pedley are resorting to calling us Fib Dems.  The tirade I am afraid is telling me what all our canvassing - doorstep and on the telephone is telling us.  That in places like Balderstone and Kirkholt we are winning and the people locally are acknowledging our solid work.

I get a little annoyed with the pathetic "Fib Dems" title - especially coming from 2 people like Allen Brett and Darren Pedley.  Allen Brett is the man who denied that Labour in Central were "treating" the electorate in Central, yet we have the evidence.  Darren Pedley has stooped to a new low in order to win votes - He has announced that Balderstone Technology College is "CLOSED" in his latest leaflet.  He is also scaremongering about children's lives being in danger if the school moves to Springhill!  Yet whose idea was the merger in the first place?  Labours.  Who was Leader of the Council at the time?  Allen Brett.  Labour are desperate - increasingly so across the Borough.

Darren Pedley proudly tells us that he's working very hard - covering the ward - maybe if he's done that all year instead of in the last few weeks - the residents of the ward might have listened.  Whether they would have believed his porkies is another thing altogther.

On a positive note - we've been busy today in Smallbridge and Firgrove, did my round of leaflets in Balderstone and Kirkholt, canvassed in Milkstone and Deeplish and Central and still managed to fit in 4 meetings and then finishing in East Middleton.  These are good days for the Liberal Democrats.  For desperate members of the Labour Party to say we have no policies is laughable - where's their manifesto?, their Website?  They have just produced a tissue of statements talking our Town down... failing to say what they would do better.

I'll talk about disabled parking - Labour voted for it.  I'll talk about Cabinet Members - they didn't change.  Rochdale is moving forward and Labour are wrecking it.  They bring politics into disrepute and I hope for Rochdale's sake - Labour's Leader is given a hiding to nothing on Thursday!

I'm in Norden, Bamford, West Middleton and West Heywood tommorow - a challenging day ahead but on Thursday it'll be worth it!
