Dear Fellow Kingsway Resident
Firstly, I must say that I am very pleased and honoured to have been elected as a Liberal Democrat Councillor for Kingsway. Along with my colleague Councillor David Clayton and the rest of the Liberal Democrat team across Rochdale, I will now be working hard in Kingsway to ensure the delivery of our manifesto promises.
Secondly, my heartfelt thanks must go to everyone who voted for me, as well as those team members who helped me with leafleting and manning the four polling stations. As a result of everyone's support, we have not only managed to gain this seat in Kingsway but also helped the Liberal Democrats to take overall control of Rochdale Council. We know that we have many challenges ahead. Our job now is, quite simply, to do the very best we can for every Rochdalian.
Thirdly, and importantly, I would also like to congratulate both Labour’s Tom Stott and the Conservative’s Philip Grantham for running such effective campaigns. I do fully understand that a good part of my work now is to persuade Tom and Philip's supporters that I will work equally hard for every Kingsway resident, not just those who voted Liberal Democrat.
So, however you voted on May 4th, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch. My door is always open and I look forward to meeting with you in complete confidence.
Kind regards,
Councillor Mark Birkett,
Liberal Democrat, Kingsway Ward
