Birtle View School

Last night I attended my last meeting as a governor of Birtle View school. We got through the agenda quite quickly, as you would expect we were mainly tying up loose ends. However, business completed, we had time for a few speeches. It was a very emotional time. As a governing body we have worked as one to firstly promote the education, health and well being of the very special pupils, but also to support all the staff who have given tirelessly of their time and efforts far, far beyond the call of duty. It has been an extremely traumatic time for the staff, wondering if they would get the post they hoped for at the new school they wished to work at, whilst at the same time supporting colleagues feeling just as worried but never letting the children know for a moment their disquiet. I hope the same level of mutual love and care for their very special communities will flourish in their new and purpose built surroundings as they deserve no less. My thoughts and good wishes go with them all on the next stage of their journey through life. I have been on the temporary governing body of Newlands school since its inception and will be working with a number of people from Birtle View at the Hollin site in future. So to everyone connected with Birtle View good luck for the future and thank you for the beautiful flowers and delicious buffet and champagne. I can honestly say that was the best ever governors meeting!
