Revitalising Rochdale Town Centre

Last night I attended a meeting at Cutgate Baptist Church to help present information on the proposals for the exciting development of our town centre.

The presentation was very well received by all present representing Norden, Bamford and Spotland churches. I was especially pleased to have Cllr Greg Couzens with me helping to answer the questions, and it was good to see Cllrs Jane and Jim Gartside present who work so hard for our town.

The development proposals are vital to make sure that Rochdale town centre is a place that we all want to visit for shopping, culture and leisure. We have a golden opportunity to acheive a wonderful town that is the envy of our neighbours and I believe this can be done. Work will soon start on environmental improvements on Yorkshire Street. The plans are exciting and with the many new jobs coming to Rochdale we shall see many of the High Street shops we need  to once again create a vibrant town were shoppers enjoy spending time and money and most of all feel safe.

We have much to do, and it will take time, but if any one is in doubt that this can not be done then take a look at Broadfield Park and Packer Spout, these are wonderful examples of what can be acheived when the council, the public and all partners are determined and united to succeed.
