People often wonder what practical effect we have as Councillors.  It is something that I sometimes wonder myself!  However, we sometimes have small victories that do make a difference.  I believe that one of these will be the introduction of three pilot schemes to reintroduce dedicated street cleaners in parts of our town.  From early next year we have asked for a dedicated street cleaner to be based in Castleton, Norden and Milkstone.  My hope is that they will get to know the local people, take pride in their patch and be able to react quickly when something needs tidying up.  I hope that they will get to know their local Councillors and share information on the problem areas.  Perhaps importantly they will get to know who dumps the rubbish and take action against them!  One small step in trying to make our town a better place to live in.
