Community spirit at Taylor Park

Yesterday evening I witnessed the culmination of true community spirit.
For the past few days residents, friends and helpers from around Taylor Park Norden have been busy organising the smooth running of their annual community bonfire.
The formalities of form filling and legal implications completed meant an early start on Saturday morning with all hands to the pumps. Building up the bonfire, erecting the marquee, installing the lighting, roping off the bonfire and checking again all the safety procedures.
At many nearby homes the black peas were soaked, meat and potato pies cooked slowly whilst trays of parkin were lined up in anticipation. Come to think of it where was the treacle toffee I missed out there!!
The shrieks , cheers, oohs!! and aahs!! from children and grown ups too as the fireworks cascaded through the clear skies, the chatter, the smiling faces and the general feel good factor the event created was brilliant.
No trouble, no bother just a really good night brought about by the kindness of a group of great people who possess the gift of true COMMUNITY SPIRIT.
