Conservative message on NHS

It was wonderful to see David Cameron in the North West and to hear his first speech of the Year on the NHS.

David’s grasp of the NHS and real commitment to its future are an inspiration to us all. He is determined that decisions taken with the next Conservative Government will be made by local GPs and local people. There will be no more decisions taken by some remote committee out of touch with people's needs and concerns in the local area.

Afterwards David and Andrew Lansley, the Shadow Secretary of State for Health, took time to listen to our Conservative Councillors concerns about the loss of hospital services in Rochdale, which are greater than in other neighbouring towns.

There is no doubt that when the Conservatives are elected to Government your local Conservative Councillors will have a great deal of influence which can only be good for our town.

As we start the year with a very positive message on the health service from the Conservatives, may I wish you all a healthy, prosperous and peaceful 2008.
