Thank You Heywood!

I am writing in to thank everyone that took the time to organise and help out at our impressive Christmas light switch-on in Heywood. I would also like to thank the many local businesses that made donations and of course the people of Heywood for coming down and making the event such a special occasion.

I would also like to make a special thank you to Kerrie Ann Payne, Heywood’s Olympic silver medallist, for taking the time to official switch our Christmas lights on and also to The Sticks who I am sure are going to go on to even greater things next year. The Many stalls and tombolas provided lots of fun for the family and the local children seem to enjoy seeing Father Christmas.

The only sour note for me was the despicable behaviour of our Mayor, Councillor Robin Parker. In his speech, prior to our light switch on, he took it upon himself to promote a NO vote in the TIF Bid referendum. He even said himself that he could be in trouble for what he just said. I find it sad that he feels this is acceptable behaviour.
