Gordon Brown Superman? More like Clark Kent!

On a week when we saw the pound drop to around £1 = 1.12 Euros, Gordon Brown was busy telling us all about how he had ‘saved the world’ at PMQs.
Even greater laughs were to be had from the Lois Lane of the Labour Government, Harriet Harman, when she declared Gordon Brown to be Superman!
In my view, Gordon Brown has single handedly, in his role as both Chancellor and Prime Minister, done more damage for this country in terms of its economy than any other in history. It is worrying that his fraudulent slip (I will leave you to decide whether it was or it wasn’t) seems to indicate a douse of delusion - a real belief that he knows what is best for, not only Britain’s economy, but for the rest of the world’s! This man is a real danger to our future financial security!
Over the last 30-40 years, successive Conservative and Labour Governments have dismantled or manufacturing business, choosing to put all their faith in financial services and banking sectors. The people of Rochdale are now living with the results of their policies – increasing unemployment, debt, and fuel prices!
When New Labour came to power in 1997 they promised the people of this country that we had seen the end of boom and bust, yet we are entering the biggest recession of our lifetime. Again we see Gordon’s loss on reality, as he declares that Britain is in one of the best positions to whether the economic downturn! This is simply not true!
The Liberal Democrat Finance Spokesman, Vince Cable MP, was the one person that predicted the financial crises that has now unfolded. As our government continued to allow the banks to lend obscene amounts of money to the public, resulting in many living off increasing amounts of credit, Vince spoke out about his worry for our economy. However, in 2003, when he dared to raise the issue at PMQs, he was mocked by Labour MPs, who ignored the important point he was making.
The next few years are not going to be easy for us in our Borough and I really do worry that our children will be paying for Gordon Brown’s mistakes.
