Spare a Thought for Our Brave Service Men and Women This Christmas.

This Christmas, as we gather together with our families, it is important to spare a thought for the thousands of service personnel that are stationed abroad.
From the horrific war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq to Kenya and Kosovo there will be around 15,800 of our brave troops spending Christmas far away from home.
A further 1,050 Navy personnel aboard war ships such as the HMS Lancaster, patrolling oil rigs in the Northern Gulf, will also be spending their Christmas away from their loved ones.
And let’s not forget the British personnel that have bravely given the ultimate sacrifice this year for our country, with their lives. Many of their families will be spending their first Christmas without them and I can only imagine the pain they will be going through.
Christmas is, above all, a time for remembering others and this Christmas I will certainly be remembering our brave servicemen and women.
