A & E Scandal In Rochdale

I am dismayed, but not surprised, that the decision has been made for Rochdale Infirmary to lose the very valued and excellent Accident and Emergency Department.

After all the hard work that ‘Friends of our Hospital’ and our M.P. Paul Rowen have put into trying to save services in our area, once again, the ‘powers that be’ are ignoring Rochdale.

I always feared that Rochdale would loose out in the Health Re-organisation. It would appear that this is the price we have to pay for not electing a Labour M.P.!

I have written to Andrew Lansley MP, the Conservative Health Spokesman, urging that if the next Government elected is a Conservative Government, and it is elected before the changes are irreversible, then we should restore the A and E Department and that as a Government we will put the interests of the Health Service first whichever political persuasion our local MP represents.

Rochdale people deserve better than this, rest assured I, and the Conservative team of Councillors, will fight on to save Health Services here in our Town.
