This is a letter I have written to the Prime Minister with regards to the appalling situation in Gaza:
Councillor Mohammed Sharif,
Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion, RMBC,
24, Kings Road,
Rochdale,
OL16 5HW
Dear Prime Minister,
As the Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion at Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, I feel that it is my duty to condemn the disproportionate Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. I would like to request in the Name of humanity.
I would like you to use your influence as Prime Minister to stop the killing of innocent civilians including children and women in Gaza. I am calling for you to request an immediate ceasefire and to tell Israel to stop the bloodshed and bring both sides to the table for urgent talks. The continuing bombardment of Gaza is disgraceful and the military operations by Israel will only serve to further inflame extremism.
As a Muslim, I believe in negotiation by negotiation. This way we can solve everything.
Once again, I would like to ask to do whatever you can within your power to stop the bloodshed and force both sides to talk.
Yours Sincerely,
Councillor M. Sharif
