Toxins threaten us all

The British Medical Research Council, in conjunction with the leading figures in the scientific community of the day, contributed significantly to a report published in 1951 which strongly recommended that all containers of a group of nerve agents be marked “Deadly Poison”. Part of the reason for this was that the fumes of the toxic chemical could pass through porous clothing and the skin and eye of any animal – including us! The report also states that one exposure by animals to this group of toxins could kill. When animals (that’s us too) ingest the toxin, amongst other things, it makes living animals disorientated and highly prone to being disorderly.
It is an astonishing fact that the Government took no positive action then or since in response to the published findings of the clinical study. The report was effectively suppressed. The results are scary. The toxins were found to cause serious mental, nervous and immune system damage. 47% of prisoners on Death Row have brain node damage. Aircraft that have visited tropical climes are routinely sprayed with the stuff to kill any nasties that might have managed to board. Increasing numbers of aircrews across the world are rendered unfit ever to work again and some have lapsed into unconsciousness in flight.
The toxins are accumulative and remain in animals long after exposure. A partial recovery is exceedingly slow for any human. There is an antidote but it has to be administered within 24 hours by a medical doctor. Most horses treated with it die overnight at first treatment. Links have been made to BSE. Young people in India paddle in the liquid and specialist doctors have pleaded through the Lancet (a doctors’ journal) for urgent advice to tackle an average of 23 patients per week per doctor.
When challenged about the liberal use of these toxins, the Government puts the onus of proof on the public to prove them harmful – despite the published report that makes it clear that they most definitely are. The courts ask for peer reviewed results from comprehensive tests that include making up cocktails of chemicals. Yet this ensures that any action taken to court will fail. No prescription medicine has to undergo such a rigorous procedure as it would involve billions of permutations being required as different strengths per chemical would have to be analysed.
The numbers of military personnel now locked up in prisons in the UK who suffer the symptoms of the toxins identified in the Zuckerman Report exceed 8,500 in the UK – they are not receiving appropriate treatment. The Government stubbornly refuses to consider toxic poisoning as a cause: it has also failed to inform GPs or Vets about these toxins despite the strong recommendation in the report to do so. The HSE, supposedly responsible for issuing appropriate warnings, has remained strangely silent.
With the relentless increase of behavioural problems now being witnessed in our society, is it not time to insist that our Government heed the strong recommendations given by our top scientists and demand that lesser mortals stop overriding clear and unambiguous warnings - hence favouring the balance sheet of manufactures – which allows those manufacturers to inflict such a dangerous group of toxins upon us via the food chain and also in a variety of other ways? They are called organophosphates (the active ingredient of nerve gases).
