Shooting Yourself in the Foot

Hopwood Hall Councillors have landed a great coup. They have gone straight from one member two votes to one member no vote!
Tonight’s Council meeting was a perfect example of how to shoot yourself in the foot. After Council decided that the principle of one member one vote was to be upheld, and that 2 Hopwood Hall Councillors will sit on Heywood Township, and 1 on Middleton Township, the Labour Group declined to nominate any of the 3 Councillors to either Township!
This now means, for the time being there is one vacancy on Middleton Township. On Heywood Township there are 2 unfilled vacancies , making the current committee 3 Labour and 3 Liberal Democrat. This could have all sorts of interesting consequences, as all the sub-committees like the planning committee will need to be reappointed, and new chairs of committee will need to be elected by a majority.
So at the moment, the residents of Hopwood Hall have no representation on either Township. This was obviously the Labour grand plan during the 6 months while they opposed one member one vote!
