Service on fire

As one of our Borough’s representatives on the Greater Manchester Fire Authority I was absolutely delighted when I read the excellent report that the Greater Manchester and Fire Rescue Service received from the Audit Commission last week.
The Government watchdog described the service delivery and use of resources as “performing well” and “improving strongly.”
The service delivery looks at how well prepared the Authority is to respond to emergencies and prevent fires, deaths and injuries and use of resources covers how well finances are managed to ensure resources are available to support fire service’s priorities, improve service delivery and provide money.
Having visited Heywood Fire Station on many occasions I have to say that all credit must go to the staff. They work incredibly hard all year round to protect the people of Heywood and I am sure they will be doing all they can to ensure that this year’s report is even better.
I will continue to work alongside them, local businesses and the community to ensure we continue to build on our successes.
