Bingo-ing Mad!

I am writing this councillor's diary to express my disgust at the Government’s decision to increase the tax on bingo winnings from 15% to 22%. 

Both I, and my lovely wife Ada, are members of the Mecca Bingo Club in Rochdale. We have been visiting our local bingo club for years and it’s become very much part of our social life. I know that there are many others across Heywood who also enjoy a good game of bingo as it’s a great way to meet friends and get out and about.



The increase in taxation by this increasingly curmudgeonly Government could well lead to the closure of many bingo halls across our area. This will result in many losing their jobs, which is simply unacceptable.



I hope that our local MP, Jim Dobbin, will be supporting the campaign against this increase in tax as I really cannot stress how important it is for the future of our local bingo clubs.
