Jobs for the Boys

The expenses scandal has highlighted some obvious wrong doing and I believe some MP’s should be legally prosecuted. Much more wide spread however is the claiming of expenses ‘within the rules’ which has never the less appalled the public. I think Jim Dobbin MP for Heywood and Middleton might come under this category. Mr Dobbin spends nearly £100,000 on staff salaries, the highest in Greater Manchester. Apart from his wife, the 2 people he employs full-time are Cllr Colin Lambert, leader of the Labour group in the Borough, and Cllr Alan Godson, a Middleton Labour Councillor.
To me that looks awfully like ‘jobs for the boys’. Cllr Lambert already receives taxpayers’ money as councillor and Leader of the Opposition totalling £18,000 while supposedly working full-time for Mr Dobbin. Is Mr Dobbin really saying that these 2 Councillors are the best secretarial staff he could find in the whole of Heywood and Middleton?
The taxpayers of Heywood and Middleton deserve a full breakdown of exactly how much he is paying these Councillors, and more importantly the taxpayer deserves to know exactly what work they are doing for their pay.
