Jim Dobbin - You should be ashamed!

Yet again I see that Jim Dobbin MP has written to a local paper claiming the cost of the Gurkhas’ victory will be £1.4Billion.

This is in spite of the fact that his own Government colleagues have admitted, well over two weeks ago now, that the actually cost will be under £300million.

The £1.4Billion that Mr Dobbin quotes was used by Gordon Brown, many months ago, as a fabric of falsehood and fantasy to smear the Gurkhas’ campaign. Gordon Brown deliberately ignored two important points. Firstly, he over exaggerated the number of Gurkhas who would choose to leave Nepal to come to Britain. Secondly, he ignored the fact that over 90% of those Gurkhas that live in Britain are actually industrious and are net contributors to the communities they live in. They do not claim benefits.

Jim Dobbin is deliberately carrying on this smear by using the inflated figure of £1.4Billion to defend his quite frankly un-defendable stance towards our brave Gurkha war heroes.
