More antisocial behaviour in store?

The Council’s Licensing Department has received a ‘Premises Licence Application’ for No 746 Edenfield Road, which is the former Bottle and Basket Convenience store.
The application if for extending the licence to 11pm on Sunday and to
6am on weekdays. The current licence is for 8am to 11pm from Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 10.30 on Sunday.
Norden Village has been suffering from alcohol related antisocial behaviour problems for years and the extension of the alcohol licence for these premises will probably not be seen as good news by a majority of Norden residents.
If you feel strongly about the issue you can object to the Council.
It is probably unlikely that the licence can be withdrawn altogether, but it is worth trying to ask for shorter operating hours. You could also ask that there is 24 hour CCTV surveillance installed on the premises and that young people under the age of 18 will not be allowed on the premises after a certain time.
The Council can either send or email you an objection form.
You can also get in touch with me and I can email you a form.
Deadline for objections is the 29th October 2009.

The more residents object to the application the more likely it is to get tough operating conditions imposed on the premises.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want to discuss the matter further or if you would like to receive an objection form.
