Elections

Well, after a hectic few weeks and a long drawn out count the results are in. I am so pleased to have been re-elected with a very comfortable majority and would like to express my gratitude to all those residents who voted for me. I should also like to thank the small team of workers who really helped me to win. Now the real work starts once again and it will be great to get back to normal. We still have to address the issue of the full time warden in Springfield Close, we need to see work  quickly towards the start on phase one of the traffic calming measures in Hopwood, and help the Friends of Coronation park to get the play equipment that they want whilst not affecting the quality of life for residents living nearby. No mean feat in itself. For the last few weeks moving around Hopwood has been increasingly difficult with temporary lights on both Middleton Rd. and Manchester Rd. a situation that the Council simply should not have allowed to happen. When I went to the Town Hall to be sworn in on monday I was not at all surprised to find temporary lights on Rochdale Rd. east it was almost like a conspiracy to stop anyone getting into Heywood.

It will be interesting to see the new line up of councillors and how they will work together for the good of the citizens of the borough. I look forward to some very interesting times ahead both locally and nationally.
