What an eye opener!

Well, I can see clearly now and it's not because the rain has gone!

A 'non political' domestic day.

A couple of weeks ago I went to have my eyes tested. Not bad to say the last time I got round to this was when I'd just turned forty, obviously more than a year or two I must say.

For the past few years I have relied on 'Easy Readers' and consequently there are specs sacttered all around the house, in jacket pockets, bags, in the car and everywhere. At around £5 a pair this isn't too bad besides which I seem to be sharing them with Alan as everytime I come into the office he's wearing a pair of mine!

So, time for an investment I thought. No,I didn't go to Spec Savers instead I supported our local opticians Lewis and Wendy in Norden. After all the tests a spanking new pair of specs were ordered.

On collection Lewis explained how I should really wear my new specs as much as possible so that I can get used to them which seemed sensible.

In a couple of weeks we are having a 'do' here at home. I have always prided myself of running what I considered quite a clean and tidy household.

Even so,time to set to and do some house work in preparation of the event. I knew I wouldn't be disturbed as Alan was out all day and the girls weren't calling.

Well, I nearly died!

This is the first time I have ever cleaned wearing specs... the house was filthy, the skirting boards thick in dust, there was fluff in all the corners and starch sprayed all over the wooden floor where I'd missed Alan's shirts not to mention the windows!

Was this a good idea Lewis? maybe I should have gone to Spec Savers after all.

Anyway I may now have the answer 'Alan, how about me having a cleaner?'

Somehow I kind of doubt that!

Glad I didn't buy the tinted ones, I'm not ready to see the world through rose coloured spectacles yet.

Think I'll still wear my Ready Readers for Council meetings though. On the other hand maybe some good will come of my new vision, I may just see my fellow Councillors in a different light!
