What Future?

It is time the Pennine Acute told us exactly what services the Infirmary is going to provide and how safe we will be in times of needing hospital care, none of us can predict the future and thankfully we don’t know what lies ahead of us, but I would like to know that my family are certain to get the treatment they deserve if it is needed as I am sure you would.
The plans that were proposed over 7 years ago have changed we are now not getting a Cardiac Centre of Excellence because they say times have changed and people no longer need heart surgery as they did when the reconfiguration began. It also states in the healthy futures book that Rochdale was to have elective inpatient surgery “our surgical” wards are closing!
Have they taken into consideration how our needs have changed? our elderly are living longer, our birth rate has risen and our population in the Borough has grown massively in the last 7 years, they tell us recruitment of new Doctors isn’t possible because as soon as the applicant finds out it is for the Rochdale Infirmary they turn down the post I think that is an insult to our Borough.
As a long serving committee member of Friends of Our Hospital I would like to invite you to attend a Public meeting at:
Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday 4th November 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to question the Pennine Acute and Healthy Futures on the downgrading of our hospitals at Fairfield and Rochdale.
Because services are being moved and wards are being closed ahead of time and without consultation with nothing in place to compensate our loss of care and as hard as I try I just can’t see this “wonderful healthy future” they are imposing on us!
