Broken Promises !

In reply to the excellent letter from Biochemist Saturday’s Observer 3rd September can I add that on top of all the changes at Rochdale Infirmary it was also promised that Stroke patients moved to Fairfield would then brought back to Rochdale once stabilised as was Trauma & Orthopaedic patients to recover and sent home.
That is not happening as they have closed all of our Inpatient beds turning these first class wards into offices, on the children’s ward alone there were 10 toilets 4 showers and a bath in Oldham there are 2 toilets and one shower same goes for Maternity which also had a wonderful birthing pool at Rochdale, and other inpatients wards what a waste of resources at least the managers won’t be caught short!
I would suggest everyone who can access the internet read the current business case for Cardiology which is starting a consultation on the 17th October, this is a result of Professor Roger Boyle’s review in March which he clearly stated it was no longer feasible to keep this service at the Infirmary due to the level of services removed he also stated in his report that no services to be removed until a full public consultation was done this was the 27th March 2011 yet on the 1st April 2011 the Pennine Acute moved all Cardiology to Fairfield without consulting the Healthy Futures team let alone the public and the question I keep asking is this a permanent move to Fairfield because as we know Maternity & Special Care Baby Unit is moving from Fairfield in March next year what other plans are in force for Fairfield?
How much money did it cost the Patients Council on a better transport system for patients & visitors no one can see any evidence of such a system in place in fact it is an absolute nightmare for most people attending Bury, Oldham & Manchester.
The Urgent Care Centre does provide a very good service and is a very busy centre with excellent staff but it is not the Locality Hospital this borough and surrounding areas in Whitworth & Rossendale Todmorden & Walsden were promised what would happen if we had a serious incident in this Borough.
Please continue to sign the e.petition backed by full council and ALL members which is now extended to 2nd October

This whole fiasco is seriously flawed and it is time the Pennine Acute management were made to answer these actions in a court of law.
