Local Election 2015

Ann Stott

Ann Stott

Conservative Party
Littleborough Lakeside Ward

I am delighted to have been re-selected to stand as the Conservative Candidate in Littleborough Lakeside Ward following my current term.

I have lived in the area for over 40 years, and, as you are aware I have been in public service throughout my career – serving in the West Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester Constabularies, having joined as a young cadet with a ‘ want to make a difference’ attitude. This still prevails now through my work as a magistrate and a volunteer for charities including our beloved Hospice, RNLI, and the NSPCC in addition to my role as a local Councillor. I am also a member of Rochdale Rotary Club which aids my ‘service above self’ thinking.

I am (and always have been) a firm believer in law and order, and work towards creating a safe, happy and healthy environment for local residents. Locally I believe that community comes before politics, and have always worked towards doing the very best I can for the local community, and will continue to do so if re-elected, not believing in making promises which cannot be kept.

I believe that Littleborough Lakeside is one of the best areas in which to live, and everything possible must be done to encourage even more visitors to come into our Borough, especially to visit the jewels in our crown, including Hollingworth Lake, the Town Hall, and the brilliant moorland which abuts onto the Ward so that Littleborough can continue to prosper and flourish with the encouragement of even more local and independent small businesses being pursued for the good of the town as opposed to multi-giant companies.

Libraries are another main stay of our local community, and must be maintained at all costs, being a pivotal outlet for many residents in all manner of subjects, and are essential for all ages, from primary through to retirement stage.

All ages of society are covered by residents in the community, and all must be afforded the best of opportunities in work schemes, health care, social outlets, and general wellbeing In an attempt to achieve a well-balanced, content and happy society.
