I have lived in the ward for 37 years, and came close to winning it for Labour in 2008. A former head teacher, youth worker and Principal Education Officer, I am also a former councillor for Healey ward. I am a member of the Co-operative Party, and support co-operative principles.
The Lib Dem controlled Council have let down the people of Rochdale with their incompetence, money-wasting decisions, and doing too little too late!
I have a reputation for hard work, getting things done, and supporting community groups. I hold regular surgeries, unlike the Lib Dem candidate. When elected my priorities will be to
- Improve prospects for small businesses and employment
- Ban housing on the former Turner Brothers Asbestos site
- Improve the Town Centre
- Restore standards to Council services
- Develop more facilities for youth in the area
- Continue my support for the Ding Quarry Action Group
- Act on behalf of individual residents
