I would firstly like to thank the members of Smallbridge & Firgrove Ward for nominating me, I have received dozens of messages of support from residents in every area and from every background which I am proud to live in and hope to continue to represent after 1 May.

I was first elected to council in May 2004 for what was then a brand new ward of Smallbridge & Firgrove it has been a whirlwind 4 years but it has been a pleasure to work alongside local residents to help improve all of our areas.

I am married to Allan for 42 years, a mum and a grandma and have lived in the same house on Hollow Spell for 41 years; previous to getting married I was raised on Cloverhall Crescent Belfield from the age of 5.

I am a level 3 nurse on the Children’s Ward at the Infirmary, for the past 30 years, and have seen many changes over the years, but none so worrying as the present proposed changes to move and downgrade the fantastic services we provide at Rochdale and Fairfield hospitals, and have been an active campaigner to Save Our Hospital Services.

I am pleased at successes we have achieved since representing this ward: traffic calming measures in all of the Hurstead areas have been a huge success and made a real difference on our estates. Parking spaces on Ditton Mead estate have helped to solve some of the parking problems but I know there is still a lot more work needed on this estate as well as play facilities for the children which we are looking at. We have supported and worked with the residents association on Cloverhall and found funding for them to expand and help them carry on the excellent work they are doing for the youth in this area. We have helped clean up the Firgrove are including the playing fields and are working closely with the residents to improve facilities to the run down pavilion to enable more community groups to use it for various venues.

I am pleased that the Lib Dems have listened and dropped the charges for bulky items, as I know this will be a good move against fly tipping. Also dropping charges for disabled parking in the town, we've actually paid for more police on our streets, alley gating schemes, youth projects and recycling.

I am proud to represent the Liberal Democrats in the Smallbridge & Firgrove ward as we have a positive attitude and a genuine concern with a desire to help you.

I still enjoy doing this work and I hope to continue striving to improve things for Smallbridge & Firgrove.
