Local Election 2008

Irene Cooper

Liberal Democrat Party
East Middleton Ward

Address
12 Schofield Close
Middleton
M24 6EA

After nearly 4 years serving as a Councillor in Middleton East Ward, I am up for election again this year, and wish to appeal to all my supporters to turn out and vote for me again, Especially the hundreds of constituents for whom I have successfully done casework during myr time in office thus far. So please turn out and vote for me on 1 May, so that I can continue to do my good work.

It is absolutely vital to have an alternative voice on our Labour dominated Township. A vote for me is a vote for someone who will argue for Middleton and ensure that a difference voice is heard. A vote for Labour in this election will not change a thing. I have enjoyed representing Middleton for the past 4 years and welcome the opportunity to continue my hard work.

The Lib Dem council is to have every drain and gully in the entire borough cleaned over the next 12 months. This is one of the Lib Dem's additional investment ideas, and will cost £120,000. The work will be carried out during 2008/2009.

The recent rainfall we have had has highlighted just how much this investment in our gullies is needed. Blocked gullies have caused many problems for residents, with flooding being the major cause for concern. This extra investment will help to decrease the risk of problems such as flooding, and I think that local residents will really see the difference it will make for our roads.

Work has already commenced on this project, so if you have any immediate problems of this nature please contact Councillor Cooper, and she will see that you get priority.
