Frank Salt

Frank Salt

Independent
Castleton Ward

Address
20 Tomlinson St
Castleton
Rochdale
OL11 3EW

Frank Salt moved to Castleton in 1969 when he married Yvonne. He has three adult children, all who live and work in Rochdale, six grandchildren and one great grandson.

He worked for 25 years at Ferranti engineering as a skilled electronic fitter and Yvonne retired after 30 years working at Woolworth Distribution Centre, Castleton.

Frank worked as a volunteer for 5 years as an adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureaux and the Samaritans. He was also chairman of the Guide Dogs for the Blind fund raising committee.

In 2002 Frank gained a BA Hons first class degree and in 2008 a Master of Philosophy degree from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Frank is a member of the Castleton Area Forum, the Senior Citizens Forum and STORM, the transport campaigning group.

His expertise includes an ability to listen and understand what is being conveyed to him. He teaches people with low vision how to use computers and access the valuable world of the Internet.

Frank communicates easily with people and can, when necessary, act as advocate for people when dealing with officials of agencies.

Frank’s particular areas of interest are education, public transport and information technology and how these things can improve Castleton.

A Castleton resident for nearly 40 years, Frank has extensive knowledge of the difficulties and issues which face most of us in our everyday lives. Having spent several years as an advisor and advocate for both the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Samaritans, it is these skills he will use to fight for the issues which affect the community in Castleton and challenge the three party monopoly which has been so successful in turning people away from democratic politics.

Frank has this to say about his decision to stand as an Independent candidate: “I am standing in the local elections because several Castleton residents have urged me to do so, based on their feelings that although they witness a serious decline in the area, they feel powerless and unable to affect change through the present political system.

“I am not affiliated with any political party and so, for example, when issues of street crime are of concern, my actions will not be dominated by political spin doctors, but by the experiences of people, including myself and neighbours, who have to live the reality rather than believe the rhetoric.

“It is the local issues which are of most concern to Castleton residents, and it is at this local level I will make a difference.

“I will put Castleton people first, not an affiliation to a political party, as the current councillors do.”

Please vote Frank Salt.

Thank you.

Frank

My pledge to the people of Castleton:

Integrity is needed if Castleton is to improve. A
Non-partisan councillor will not ‘toe the Party line’. A
Defiant approach to undemocratic decision-making will be an
Effective way of bringing Castleton views into the council chamber. Being a
Practical representative means real issues will be at the forefront. An
Efficient use of council tax money will regenerate our Village. Using my
No-nonsense common sense attitude council officers will be exposed to a
Dogged determination to ensure front line services are safeguarded. All my
Effort will be put toward the future of Castleton bringing
Notable improvements in particular a fairer share of council spending with
Truthfulness being my watchword.
