Local Election 2012

Jane Gartside

Jane Gartside

Conservative Party
Bamford Ward

It has been an honour and a privilege to represent the people of Bamford Village, Brimrod, Oulder Hill, Oakenrod, Marland and Sudden on Rochdale Council. Nothing would please me more than to carry on representing these areas. However, this can only be achieved if you entrust me with your vote on Thursday 3rd May.

During my time on the Council, which totals 29 years, I have worked on many issues for the good of the Ward and the Borough to retain our status as a Metropolitan Borough, e.g. trying to hold on to our hospital services at Rochdale Infirmary and to keep Rochdale Magistrates Court but sometimes outside forces override our local wishes. I have also been a Magistrate for 28 years where I have experienced many changes during that time.

I am at present the Borough’s Deputy Mayoress supporting my husband Norden Councillor Jim Gartside who is the Deputy Mayor. We are both looking forward to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year and all the festivities that will bring in both Wards.

I am fortunate to work alongside my hard working colleagues Councillors Ian Duckworth and Pat Sullivan, as the issues we have to deal with in these austere times are a great challenge. Local elections concern local issues and if you are prepared to give me your vote I will continue to fight for the interests of the whole of the Ward which is what the public expects from their elected Councillors.
